Bidding Prayers

PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL – Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

CELEBRANT: Let us turn in prayer to God, whose Kingdom draws near in Christ.

READER:

1. For boldness and courage in our discipleship: that all who are called to labour in the Lord’s harvest may be truthful in their witness and dedicated in their service, inviting all people to share in the peace of Christ... LORD, IN YOUR MERCY...

2. For all who are tormented by the serpents and scorpions of violence and war: that the people of Gaza and Ukraine, together with all who endure the venom of hatred, may dwell in true, just and lasting peace… LORD, IN YOUR MERCY...

3. For the people of Jerusalem and of the entire Middle East: that tensions may ease and that the Spirit of God may roam across the earth, turning the hearts of all people to thoughts of peace… LORD, IN YOUR MERCY…

4. For peace in our own communities: that politicians, lawmakers and other leaders may work together for the good of all people, without exception… LORD, IN YOUR MERCY…

5. For those who are in need of healing: that their minds may be at peace and their hearts rejoice at the comforting nearness of God... LORD, IN YOUR MERCY...

6. For all who have died: that Christ, who suffered the pains of the cross, may write their names in heaven... LORD, IN YOUR MERCY...

Let us ask Mary to stand by us in our need as we pray...HAIL MARY...

And in silence, let us place our needs in the hands of our loving Father...

CELEBRANT: God of grace and promise in whom we find our joy: look upon your children and, in your love, gather them in your embrace, nurture them in your mercy, and surround them in your peace. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Second Sunday of Easter

PRIEST: As we continue to celebrate the Resurrection, we are confident that Christ intercedes for us at the right hand of the Father. With faith in his love we make our prayers in his name:

READER: For the whole Church, that all who believe in the Risen Christ may follow him faithfully. (pause) Lord in your mercy

READER: For peace in our world, that Christ’s gift of peace may settle in the hearts of all people and guide us away from injustice and violence. (pause) Lord in your mercy

READER: For all who doubt or struggle with faith, that God’s love and presence may become known to them and bring light to their life’s journey. (pause) Lord in your mercy

READER: For all those newly welcomed into the life of the Church, that they may be united in heart and soul and may be a sign of God’s transforming and merciful love. (pause) Lord in your mercy

READER: For our own parish community, that we may see the Lord in the signs he has left us, giving us new life in Baptism and nourishing us in the Eucharist. (pause) Lord in your mercy

READER: For all who are in need, that those with plenty may act with compassion so as to serve their brothers and sisters in Christ with justice. (pause) Lord in your mercy

READER: For all who are sick or suffering and for those close to death, that Jesus, the risen Saviour, may give them grace and strength. (pause) Lord in your mercy

PRIEST: God our Father, increase in our minds and hearts the Risen life we share with Christ, helping us to grow as your people. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Feast of the Holy Family

Priest
On this feast of the Holy Family we bring our requests to God our loving father.

Reader:
For the church. May its teaching and action always reflect the example of the Holy Family Lord hear us

For parents; that in a spirit of generosity and love, they may be strengthened in their vocation, Lord hear us

For friends, family, and the strangers in our midst, may we reach out to them and remember them, not only at Christmas but throughout the year. Lord hear us

For refugees in all parts of the world who, like the Holy Family, cannot return home for fear of death or repression. May they be received with kindness in foreign lands and supported in their endeavours to build a new life. Lord hear us.

For those who have died and whose anniversaries occur at this time, May they be blessed with God’s welcome into his presence. Lord hear us.

Let us ask Mary, loving wife and mother to pray for us as we say. Hail Mary …

In silence we thank God for our blessings and ask him to hear our personal prayers.

Priest:
Father we ask you to hear and answer all our prayers which we bring to you in faith and love through our Lord Jesus your Son.  Amen
